Tanina Gerogiannis
My passion for helping others began at a young age. I originally planned to become a nurse, but life led me down a different path into the business side of healthcare. I worked as an administrator in my family’s assisted living facility, where my love for supporting people truly grew.

I later earned my Master’s degree in Health Services Administration from the University of Central Florida (Go Knights!) and went on to work with Humana Inc. as a physician contractor. While I valued the experience, I knew something was missing—I wasn’t directly helping people in the way I felt called to.

At the same time, I was on my own personal journey. After years of struggling with weight gain and yo-yo dieting, I chose to have gastric sleeve surgery in July 2023.
Â
Although my surgery was successful, I quickly realized that the emotional and lifestyle support I needed simply wasn’t there. Outside of my husband, I often felt alone and unable to find meaningful guidance or community.

Since then, I’ve lost over 115 pounds, but the biggest transformation has been mental and emotional. That experience led me to create Shadow Work Studios.

I’m a Certified Professional Coach that support major weight loss individuals that have undergone bariatric surgery and/or GLP-1 medications. My focus is on providing the emotional support and accountability that so many people are missing.

I help clients navigate body image struggles—like feeling disconnected from their reflection, fearing weight regain, and learning to feel at home in their changing bodies.

MY ORIGIN
A Weight Lifted, A Hidden Self Found
287 lbs. That was on the scale staring dead in my face in April 2023. I had tried though! I tried every diet under the sun and every exercise regime but nothing stuck and I felt like the ultimate failure. My last-ditch effort was put on Dr. Parth Patel, a bariatric surgeon in my area with stellar reviews. Shout out to him! He told me that this road wasn't pretty, it was hard work and I would work at it every day for the rest of my life and boy was he right. I was terrified of the unknown with the surgery but at this point, me wanting to get back to feeling myself again was stronger than any fear I had. So in July 2023 I completed surgery and started the real hard work, adjusting to this new life. I am now 115lbs down now and still going! I can finally bend down and talk to my toddlers, jog a mile, and much more. Though the physical change was amazing, I still had a hard time adjusting to the mental change. I had joined tons of bariatric communities, and it only brought a crazy amount of drama. I turned to my husband for guidance which had helped for some time but something was still missing.
I founded Shadow Work Studios to provide the kind of support I wish I had during my own journey. Bariatric surgery is not just about weight loss—it’s about identity shifts, emotional healing, learning new habits, and navigating a completely new relationship with food and yourself.
Today, I help individuals both before and after bariatric surgery and those on GLP-1's navigate the challenges that often go unspoken.
